444 stainless steel plate is a high-alloy ultra-pure ferritic stainless steel, regarded as the representative of economical high-performance stainless steel. It achieves superior corrosion resistance (far exceeding that of ordinary ferritic stainless steel and comparable to 316L) through extremely low carbon and nitrogen content (C+N ≤ 0.035%) and the addition of elements such as molybdenum, titanium/nickel, etc., while its cost is much lower than that of nickel-based austenitic stainless steel.

444 Stainless Steel Plate is a high-alloy, ultra-low carbon and nitrogen ferritic stainless steel engineered to deliver exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride environments. As a member of the 400-series ferritic family, it is magnetic and offers significant advantages over standard austenitic grades like 304 and 316 in specific applications, particularly where thermal efficiency and cost are critical concerns.

The key to its performance lies in a "stabilized" composition: high chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo) content provide excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, while the addition of stabilizing elements like titanium (Ti) or niobium (Nb) to an ultra-low carbon base prevents sensitization and intergranular corrosion, even after welding. This makes 444 a robust, nickel-free, and cost-effective solution for demanding applications exposed to hot water, chlorides, and oxidizing acids.
