Product Introduction
405 Stainless Steel Plate is a cost-effective aluminum-containing ferritic stainless steel and a specialized, non-hardenable modification of the 12% chromium family.
Its primary advantage lies in its exceptional weldability. The addition of aluminum (Al) prevents the formation of significant amounts of austenite at high temperatures, ensuring it does not harden upon quenching. This characteristic results in ductile, crack-resistant welds, making 405 the preferred choice for applications involving extensive welding or where post-weld heat treatment is not feasible.
As a ferritic grade, it is magnetic, offers good thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion, and provides moderate corrosion and oxidation resistance at a cost significantly lower than common austenitic grades like 304.
