254SMO Stainless Steel Plate (UNS S31254 / EN 1.4547) is a premium super austenitic stainless steel designed to withstand the most demanding corrosive environments. Renowned for its exceptionally high molybdenum content (approximately 6.0-6.5%) coupled with elevated levels of chromium, nickel, and nitrogen, it achieves a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of over 43.
This alloy delivers outstanding resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in high-chloride environments such as seawater, brine, and acidic process streams. Its performance in these harsh conditions can rival that of some nickel-based alloys and titanium, offering a cost-effective, high-performance alternative. With its combination of superior corrosion resistance, high strength, and good weldability, 254SMO is the material of choice for critical applications in industries where equipment longevity and reliability are paramount.
