Titanium Near-Alpha Alloy (Ti-3Al-2.5V) Coil/Strip

The coiled form of the optimized intermediate-strength, high-fabricability alloy.

Common Supply Condition

Annealed (Soft Condition). This is the standard and optimal condition for all cold forming and welding operations.

Supplied ready for fabrication, requiring no further heat treatment for most applications.

Low alloying content (Al, V) provides solid-solution strengthening without drastically reducing ductility.

Tensile Strength (Rm): 620 - 750 MPa
Yield Strength (Rp0.2): 485 - 600 MPa
Elongation (A): 15 - 20%

Offers ~50% higher yield strength than Grade 2 coil, with ductility much closer to Grade 2 than to Grade 5.

Key Performance Attributes

• Excellent Cold Formability & Bendability – superior to Ti-6Al-4V.
• Excellent Weldability using GTAW, similar to CP titanium.
• Good Corrosion Resistance, matching Grades 2 and 12 in most environments (seawater, chlorides, oxidizers).
• Higher Strength & Better Creep Resistance at Moderate Temperatures (up to ~425°C / 800°F) than CP grades.

The optimal coil choice when Grade 2 is too weak and Grade 5 is too difficult or expensive to form for the application.

ASTM B265 / ASME SB-265 (Grade 9), AMS 4915 (Aerospace Tubing - primary use), MIL-T-9047

ASTM B265 is the primary plate/sheet/coil spec. It is most famous as the basis for tubing per AMS 4915.

Forming & Fabrication

Excellent for cold forming, stamping, and deep drawing. Can be readily roll-formed into tubing or complex profiles. Welds easily and maintains good ductility in the weld zone.

Its fabricability is a major commercial advantage, enabling cost-effective manufacturing of complex parts.
