Product Introduction
440C Stainless Steel Plate represents the pinnacle of hardness and wear resistance among the standard martensitic stainless steel grades. With a very high carbon content (0.95-1.20%) and elevated chromium, it is designed to achieve maximum hardness, exceptional edge retention, and outstanding abrasion resistance after proper heat treatment. This alloy is classified as a "hardened bearing steel" and is the go-to material for applications where extreme durability under high load and moderate corrosion conditions is paramount.
While it offers the stainless characteristic of passivation in mild environments, its primary identity is that of a superior wear-resistant and cutting material. It is almost exclusively supplied in the spheroidized annealed condition to facilitate machining, followed by customer-specific hardening. Its use is specialized, targeting high-performance components in demanding mechanical, aerospace, and precision industries.
