Product Introduction
305 Stainless Steel Plate is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel specifically engineered for excellent formability and low work-hardening rate. Its key design feature is a deliberately elevated nickel content (typically 10.5% to 13.0%) compared to the standard 304 grade. This high nickel content stabilizes the austenitic microstructure, resulting in several critical advantages for demanding fabrication processes.
The primary benefit of 305 is its significantly reduced tendency to work-harden during cold deformation. This makes it the premier choice for severe deep-drawing, spinning, cold-heading, and other forming operations where 304 might become too hard and crack. It retains good corrosion resistance comparable to 304 in general atmospheric and mild chemical environments, maintains non-magnetic properties, and offers excellent welding characteristics. It is the material of choice when the utmost in formability is required without resorting to specialized, high-cost alloys.
