Product Introduction
2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Plate represents one of the most widely used grades in the duplex stainless steel family. It is characterized by a balanced, near 50/50 microstructure of ferrite and austenite, which gives it a unique property profile superior to both standard austenitic and ferritic grades. This "duplex" nature combines exceptionally high mechanical strength with outstanding resistance to chloride-induced corrosion such as pitting, crevice corrosion, and, most notably, stress corrosion cracking.
Engineered as a nitrogen-alloyed duplex stainless steel, 2205 is purpose-built to solve the corrosion and strength limitations faced by common 300-series stainless steels in demanding environments. Its high yield strength enables lighter and more economical designs for pressure vessels and structural components. It is the material of choice for applications where standard 316L is inadequate, but more expensive nickel alloys or super duplex grades are not necessary.
