Product Introduction

202 Stainless Steel Plate is a low-nickel, high-manganese austenitic stainless steel developed primarily as a cost-effective alternative to the classic 300-series grades. It maintains the non-magnetic, austenitic structure and good formability characteristic of this family by partially replacing nickel with manganese and nitrogen. However, this compositional adjustment results in a general corrosion resistance that is lower than that of Type 304.

As a member of the 200-series, 202 is designed for applications where material cost is a significant factor, and the service environment is mild. It is best suited for indoor architectural elements, decorative trims, and general hardware where structural integrity, aesthetics, and moderate corrosion resistance are required. Buyers should be aware that 202 is not recommended for harsh environments involving chlorides, acids, heavy welded fabrications, or outdoor coastal exposure.
