Product Introduction

Hastelloy X Coil is supplied as a continuous thin strip, engineered for high-volume stamping and forming of components that require exceptional high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and thermal fatigue resistance up to 1200°C (2200°F). This form enables the mass production of complex, lightweight parts for gas turbine engines, combustion systems, and industrial furnaces, such as seal rings, burner liners, heat shield panels, and turbine shims, where its outstanding creep rupture strength and fabricability are critical.

The coiled form of the premier high-temperature structural alloy.

Common Forms & Tempers

Forms: Cold Rolled Coil (Strip), Annealed Pickled Coil.
Temper: Typically supplied in Annealed (Soft) temper for formability. Can be supplied in Hard or Spring temper for applications requiring high strength at temperature without forming.

Temper choice balances formability vs. in-service strength. Annealed is most common for complex parts.

Ni: 47.0 (Balance)
Cr: 20.5 - 23.0
Fe: 17.0 - 20.0
Mo: 8.0 - 10.0
Co: 0.5 - 2.5
W: 0.2 - 1.0
C: 0.05 - 0.15

High Cr for oxidation resistance. Mo, Co, and controlled C contribute to solid-solution strength and carbide formation for high-temperature stability.

Mechanical Properties (By Temper, Room Temp)

Annealed (Soft):
• Tensile: 655 - 895 MPa
• Yield: 310 - 480 MPa
• Elongation: 35 - 55%
Hard/Spring Temper (Typical):
• Tensile: 900 - 1200 MPa
• Yield: 700 - 1000 MPa
• Elongation: 5 - 15%

Retains a high percentage of its room-temperature strength at elevated temperatures. Hard temper offers excellent spring properties at high heat.

AMS 5536 is the leading aerospace procurement standard for coil and sheet products.

Typical Coil Applications

• Aerospace (Primary Market): Gas turbine combustor liners, seal rings, honeycomb seals, shims, spray bars, heat shield segments.
• Industrial Furnaces: Radiant tube clips, furnace belt links, roller hearth components, heat treatment fixture parts.
• Power Generation: Combustion liner components, transition duct seals for land-based turbines.
• Automotive: High-performance turbocharger shrouds and heat shields.

The dominant material for high-volume, stamped high-temperature components in jet engines and thermal processing equipment.
