Product Introduction

Nickel 201 Coil is supplied as a continuous thin strip of low-carbon, commercially pure wrought nickel (Ni ≥99.0%, C ≤0.02%). This coiled form provides exceptional ductility, high thermal/electrical conductivity, and outstanding corrosion resistance, with the critical advantage of resistance to graphite embrittlement at elevated temperatures. It enables the high-volume production of components for high-temperature caustic service, electronics, and aerospace applications through stamping, drawing, and forming processes.

Low-Carbon Commercially Pure Nickel (Unalloyed) Coil/Strip

The coiled form of pure nickel optimized for high-temperature stability.

Key Distinction

Guaranteed Low Carbon Content (C ≤ 0.02 wt.%)

This is the sole but critical difference from Nickel 200, preventing graphite precipitation at grain boundaries during prolonged high-temperature service.

Common Forms & Tempers

Forms: Cold Rolled Coil (Strip), Annealed Pickled Coil.
Temper: Annealed (Soft) for deep drawing; Hard, Half-Hard for spring applications requiring strength at temperature.

Same excellent formability as Nickel 200, but with safe high-temperature use.

• Tensile: 380 - 550 MPa
• Yield: 100 - 275 MPa
• Elongation: 40 - 55%
Hard Temper (Typical):
• Tensile: 550 - 760 MPa
• Yield: 480 - 690 MPa
• Elongation: 2 - 10%

Identical ductility and formability to Nickel 200 coil. Lower strength than alloyed nickels but exceptional for fabrication.

Precision rolled for high-speed progressive die stamping and continuous forming.

Safe Service Temperature

Cryogenic to ~650°C (1200°F) for continuous service.

The safe upper temperature limit is significantly higher than for Nickel 200 coil due to carbon control.

Key Corrosion Resistance

• Excellent resistance to hot, concentrated caustic alkalis (NaOH, KOH) – its premier application.
• Excellent resistance to neutral/reducing salts, organic acids, dry halogen gases.

• Good resistance to dilute hydrochloric and sulfuric acids at room temperature.

•  Poor resistance to oxidizing acids (e.g., nitric acid).

Corrosion resistance is identical to Nickel 200. Its advantage is sustained integrity in hot corrosive environments.

ASTM B162 / ASME SB-162 (Standard Specification for Nickel Plate, Sheet, and Strip - Grade UNS N02201), DIN 2.4061, 2.4068

The same ASTM standard covers both 200 and 201; the UNS number (N02201) defines the purchase.
