Nickel-Copper-Aluminum-Titanium Alloy (Precipitation-Hardenable) Coil/Strip

The coiled form of the high-strength, corrosion-resistant Monel alloy.

Mandatory Supply Condition

Solution Annealed (Soft Condition). All forming, stamping, and machining must be completed in this soft state. Final high strength is achieved by a subsequent aging heat treatment after fabrication.

Cannot be supplied or formed in a pre-aged/hard temper. Process is similar to Inconel 718 and Incoloy 925 coils.

The additions of Aluminum (Al) and Titanium (Ti) enable age-hardening by forming the γ' (Ni₃(Al,Ti)) strengthening precipitates.

Mechanical Properties (Typical)

As-Supplied (Solution Annealed):
• Tensile: 620 - 790 MPa
• Yield: 210 - 480 MPa
• Elongation: 35 - 45%
After Aging (Aged Properties):
• Tensile: 965 - 1200 MPa
• Yield: 690 - 965 MPa
• Elongation: 20 - 30%

The dramatic strength increase after aging is the core value. Achieves strength similar to alloy steel while being corrosion-resistant.

Supplied for stamping into blanks or slitting into strips for subsequent forming and machining.

Key Performance Attributes

ASTM B865 / ASME SB-865 (Precipitation Hardening Nickel-Copper-Aluminum Alloy Sheet, Strip, and Plate – for Solution Heat Treated material), AMS 4676 (Aerospace)

ASTM B865 is the primary specification for solution-annealed coil.

Heat Treatment (Aging Cycle)

Standard aging: 595°C (1100°F) for 16-20 hours, air cool. Sometimes a two-step age is used. Performed by the parts manufacturer after all fabrication is complete.

This aging treatment is essential to develop the high strength and hardness.
