Nickel-Molybdenum-Chromium-Tungsten Superalloy (Low-Carbon) Coil/Strip

The coiled form of the industry benchmark for severe chemical corrosion resistance.

Common Forms & Tempers

Forms: Cold Rolled Coil (Strip), Annealed Pickled Coil.
Temper: Typically supplied in Annealed (Soft) temper for optimal formability and corrosion resistance. Hard tempers are less common.

The annealed condition is standard to maximize ductility and ensure microstructural stability.

Very Low Carbon & Silicon are critical to prevent harmful carbide precipitation in the weld heat-affected zone (HAZ), preserving corrosion resistance.

Precision slitting and gauge control are essential for producing consistent stamped parts like gaskets and seals.

Key Corrosion Resistance Attributes

• Excellent resistance to a wide range of acids: Sulfuric, Hydrochloric, Phosphoric, Organic Acids.
• Superior resistance to chloride-induced pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.• Resistance to wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions.• Good performance in both oxidizing and reducing environments.

The "workhorse" alloy for handling unpredictable or mixed chemical streams where localized corrosion is a primary risk.

ASTM B575 is the primary material specification for coil (strip) products.

Fabrication Note

Can be readily stamped, blanked, and formed. It is also excellently weldable using matching filler metal (ERNiCrMo-4). Its key advantage is excellent as-welded corrosion resistance without requiring post-weld heat treatment.

This simplifies the manufacture of complex stamped-and-welded assemblies for chemical plants.

Used to manufacture critical consumable and non-consumable parts for the most aggressive chemical processes, especially where chlorides are present.
