444 Stainless Steel Bar
444 stainless steel bars are high-alloy ultra-pure ferritic stainless steel bars. By adding molybdenum, titanium/nickel and extremely low carbon and nitrogen content, they achieve corrosion resistance comparable to that of 316L, while maintaining a lower cost and being an excellent economic material with outstanding performance.

Product Introduction

444 Stainless Steel Bar is a premium ferritic stainless steel engineered to deliver corrosion resistance approaching 316L levels while maintaining the cost advantages and physical properties of ferritic grades. By incorporating dual stabilization with titanium and niobium (columbium) along with molybdenum addition (1.75-2.50%), 444 achieves exceptional resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion—making it an excellent, cost-effective alternative to 316L in many bar applications. This grade combines the best attributes of ferritic stainless steels—low thermal expansion, stress corrosion cracking resistance, and nickel-free economy—with corrosion performance typically associated with more expensive austenitic grades.

Available in rounds, squares, flats, and hexagons, 444 stainless steel bar offers a unique combination of properties: excellent thermal conductivity (superior to austenitic grades), natural immunity to chloride stress corrosion cracking, and significantly better corrosion resistance than standard ferritic grades like 430. Its dual stabilization ensures long-term stability in welded structures, while its low thermal expansion coefficient makes it ideal for applications involving thermal cycling. Particularly valuable in automotive exhaust systems, heat exchangers, water heating equipment, and coastal architectural applications, 444 provides premium performance at a competitive price point.
