439 Stainless Steel Bar is a titanium-stabilized ferritic stainless steel engineered to provide enhanced corrosion resistance and weldability compared to standard 430 grade, while maintaining the cost advantages of nickel-free ferritic stainless steels in bar applications. With 17-19% chromium content and titanium stabilization (typically 0.50-1.00%), 439 offers improved resistance to intergranular corrosion and better high-temperature stability than conventional ferritic grades. This grade represents an optimal balance between performance and cost, making it suitable for bar applications requiring better corrosion resistance than 430 but where the premium cost of 304 is not justified.

Available in rounds, squares, flats, hexagons, and angles, 439 stainless steel bar combines the favorable physical properties of ferritic stainless steels—low thermal expansion, resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and magnetic properties—with enhanced corrosion resistance and fabricability. The titanium addition effectively stabilizes the alloy against sensitization during welding and exposure to moderate temperatures, making 439 particularly suitable for welded fabrications, automotive exhaust systems, heat exchanger components, and architectural applications where improved pitting resistance and overall corrosion performance are required.
