904L Stainless Steel Bar (UNS N08904) is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel specifically designed for exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, particularly sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and chloride-containing solutions. With its high chromium (20%), nickel (25%), and molybdenum (4.5%) content, combined with copper addition (1.5%), 904L offers superior corrosion resistance that bridges the gap between conventional stainless steels and nickel-based alloys. Originally developed for sulfuric acid handling, this grade has become the material of choice for severe corrosive applications across chemical processing, pollution control, and offshore industries in bar form.

Available in rounds, squares, flats, hexagons, and special shapes, 904L stainless steel bar combines outstanding corrosion performance with good mechanical properties and machinability. Its low carbon content (≤0.02%) ensures excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion, while the balanced alloy composition provides stability across a wide pH range. Particularly valuable in sulfuric acid production, phosphoric acid processing, seawater applications, and aggressive chemical environments, 904L delivers reliable performance where lower-alloy stainless steels would rapidly deteriorate, offering long service life and reduced maintenance in exchange for higher initial material cost.
