Product Introduction

317L Stainless Steel Bar is a premium austenitic stainless steel with enhanced molybdenum content (3-4%) compared to standard 316L (2-3%), providing superior corrosion resistance in aggressive chemical environments, particularly against chlorides, sulfuric acid, and phosphoric acid. The "L" designation indicates low carbon content (≤0.03%), which prevents sensitization during welding and ensures maintained corrosion resistance in heat-affected zones. This grade represents an intermediate solution between standard 316L and super austenitic stainless steels, offering enhanced performance for demanding applications without the premium cost of higher-alloy materials.

Available in rounds, squares, flats, hexagons, and special shapes, 317L stainless steel bar combines excellent corrosion resistance with good fabricability and machinability. Its higher alloy content makes it particularly suitable for chemical processing, pulp and paper, pollution control, and other aggressive environments where standard 316L may be marginal. The increased molybdenum content provides better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments, while the low carbon content ensures weld integrity without post-weld heat treatment requirements for machined and fabricated components.
