Product Introduction

321 Stainless Steel Coil is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel specifically designed for superior performance in high-temperature applications and welded assemblies. By adding titanium (typically at least 5 times the carbon content), this grade effectively prevents chromium carbide precipitation in the sensitization temperature range of 425-850°C. This stabilization provides exceptional resistance to intergranular corrosion while maintaining excellent mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, making 321 the preferred choice for components exposed to continuous high-temperature service where standard 304/304L grades would degrade.

Supplied in continuous coil form for manufacturing efficiency, 321 stainless steel offers a unique combination of high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and fabricability. Unlike low-carbon grades that simply reduce carbon content, 321 uses titanium to chemically "stabilize" the steel by forming titanium carbides instead of chromium carbides. This approach preserves the full corrosion resistance of the chromium content while allowing the material to withstand prolonged exposure to temperatures up to 900°C, making it ideal for aerospace, automotive exhaust, and industrial heating applications.
