The 202 stainless steel coil is an austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel coil, and it is also an economical material with high manganese and low nickel content. Its characteristic is that the nickel content (about 4-6%) is slightly higher than that of 201, but its corrosion resistance is still limited, especially it is not resistant to chloride ion corrosion.

202 Stainless Steel Coil represents a mid-range austenitic stainless steel that strikes a practical balance between the economy of 201 grades and the performance of 304 stainless steel. By incorporating higher nickel content than 201 (4-6% vs. 3.5-5.5%) while maintaining substantial manganese levels, 202 offers improved corrosion resistance and formability over 201, making it suitable for applications requiring better durability than 201 but where the full corrosion resistance of 304 is not essential. This grade serves as a cost-effective alternative in environments with mild corrosive conditions where both performance and budget considerations are important.

Supplied in continuous coil form for efficient manufacturing, 202 stainless steel maintains the non-magnetic properties of austenitic stainless steels in the annealed condition while providing good mechanical strength and moderate corrosion resistance. Its chemical composition represents a transitional formulation between the highly economical 201 series and the premium 304 series, offering manufacturers a viable option for applications that exceed the limitations of 201 but do not justify the full cost of 304.
