Its manganese content (5.5-7.5%) and nitrogen addition help stabilize the austenitic structure while reducing the nickel content, making it less sensitive to nickel price fluctuations. While not recommended for harsh corrosive environments or food contact applications requiring 304/316 grades, 201 performs well in indoor architectural applications, decorative items, and general consumer goods where appearance and moderate corrosion resistance are sufficient.
