High Molybdenum (Mo) resists reducing acids. Chromium (Cr) resists oxidizing media. Very Low C & Si prevent sensitization during welding.

Key Corrosion Resistance Attributes

• Excellent resistance to a wide range of acids: Sulfuric, Hydrochloric, Phosphoric, Organic Acids.
• Superior resistance to chloride-induced pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.• Resistance to wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions.• Good performance in both oxidizing and reducing environments.

The "workhorse" alloy for handling unpredictable or mixed chemical streams where localized corrosion is a risk.

ASTM B575 is the main specification for plate, sheet, and strip.

Fabrication Note

Can be readily welded using matching filler metal (ERNiCrMo-4) and standard arc welding processes. Excellent as-welded corrosion resistance without post-weld heat treatment.

This is a critical advantage over earlier "C-type" alloys, simplifying fabrication of large vessels.
