Nickel-Chromium-Iron-Aluminum Superalloy (Solid-Solution Strengthened)

Distinguished by its aluminum content, which enables superior high-temperature oxidation resistance.

Common Forms (Bar)

Hot Finished or Cold Finished Rounds, Hexagons, Squares. Also available as Forged Bar for large cross-sections or custom shapes.

Typically supplied in straight lengths. Hot finished bar is common for machining.

High Chromium & intentional Aluminum form a stable, protective alumina (Al₂O₃) scale at extreme temperatures.

Yield Strength (Rp0.2): 275 - 585 MPa
Elongation (A): 30 - 45%
Hardness: Typically 85-100 HRB

Offers higher typical strength than Inconel 600, especially at elevated temperatures.

Key Standards (Bar)

ASTM B166 / ASME SB-166 (Grade UNS N06601), AMS 5713 (Aerospace Bar, Forging Stock)

Procured under the same ASTM standard as Inconel 600 bar, but to the N06601 composition.

Common Sizes & Conditions

Diameter/Thickness: 5mm (0.2") up to 250mm (10")+ diameter.
Condition: Annealed (Solution Annealed) or Hot Finished.

The Annealed condition is recommended for most machining operations to maximize tool life.

Machinability & Fabrication

Machinability Rating: Similar to Inconel 600 (~25%). Tough and work-hardening; requires rigid setups, positive rake tools, and adequate cooling.
Weldability: Good, using filler metals such as ENiCrFe-2 or ERNiCr-3.

Machining requires similar techniques to other solid-solution nickel superalloys: low speeds, high feeds, sharp tools.

• Heat Treatment: Fixture components, basket frames, conveyor pins, rollers.
