Nickel-Molybdenum-Chromium-Tungsten Superalloy (Low-Carbon, Wrought)

The "C-type" alloy optimized for stability in the welded condition.

Available in a wide range of diameters and cross-sections for machining and forging.

Very Low Carbon & Silicon are critical to prevent sensitization (harmful carbide precipitation) during welding, preserving corrosion resistance.

Tensile Strength (Rm): 690 - 827 MPa
Yield Strength (Rp0.2): 283 - 414 MPa
Elongation (A): 40 - 55%

Melting Range: 1325 - 1370 °C

Higher density than many stainless steels and nickel alloys.

Key Corrosion Resistance

• Excellent resistance to a wide range of acids: Sulfuric, Hydrochloric, Phosphoric, Organic Acids.
• Superior resistance to chloride-induced pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.

• Resistance to wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions.

• Good performance in both oxidizing and reducing environments.

The "workhorse" alloy bar for handling unpredictable or mixed chemical streams where localized corrosion is a risk.

ASTM B574 is the primary material specification for bar products.

Common Sizes & Conditions

Diameter/Thickness: 6mm (0.25") up to 300mm (12")+ diameter for hot rolled; up to 100mm (4") for cold finished.
Condition: Annealed (Solution Annealed) or Hot Rolled. The annealed condition is standard for optimal corrosion resistance and machinability.

Annealed bar is recommended for most applications to ensure a uniform, stress-free microstructure.

Machinability & Fabrication

Machinability Rating: ~30% (similar to other nickel alloys). It is tough and work-hardens. Requires rigid setups, sharp positive-rake carbide tools, slow speeds, and heavy, constant feeds.
Weldability: Excellent, using matching filler metal (ERNiCrMo-4). Excellent as-welded corrosion resistance without post-weld heat treatment.

This weldability is a critical advantage, allowing for repair or fabrication of complex assemblies from bar stock.
