Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum-Tungsten Superalloy (Low-Carbon, Wrought)

An optimized, "third-generation" C-type alloy with enhanced versatility.

Hot Rolled, Forged, or Cold Finished Rounds, Hexagons, Squares. Also supplied as Forging Billet.

Available in a wide range of diameters for machining and forging critical components.

Higher Chromium (Cr) than C-276 improves resistance to oxidizing media. Balanced Mo & W provide stability in reducing conditions. Very Low C & Si prevent sensitization.

Tensile Strength (Rm): 690 - 827 MPa
Yield Strength (Rp0.2): 310 - 414 MPa
Elongation (A): 45 - 55%

High strength combined with excellent ductility and toughness for demanding machining operations.

Physical Properties

Density: 8.69 g/cm³
Melting Range: 1355 - 1395 °C

Slightly lower density than C-276 due to optimized chemistry.

Key Corrosion Resistance

• Outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking – superior to C-276.
• Excellent resistance to both oxidizing and reducing media, including mixed acids (e.g., HNO₃ + HF).

• Superior resistance to hot contaminated mineral acids, salts, and seawater.

• Excellent performance in oxidizing chloride solutions (e.g., FeCl₃, CuCl₂).

Considered to have the broadest corrosion resistance of any commercially available wrought alloy, ideal for unpredictable or fluctuating process streams.

Key Standards (Bar)

ASTM B574 / ASME SB-574 (Standard Specification for Low-Carbon Nickel-Molybdenum-Chromium Alloy Rod and Bar - Grade UNS N06022)

Procured under the same ASTM standard as C-276 bar, but to the N06022 composition.

Common Sizes & Conditions

Diameter/Thickness: 6mm (0.25") up to 300mm (12")+ for hot rolled.
Condition: Annealed (Solution Annealed) is the standard and recommended condition for optimal corrosion resistance and machinability. Hot rolled is also available.

The annealed condition ensures a uniform, stress-free microstructure ideal for corrosion service.

Machinability & Fabrication

Machinability Rating: Similar to C-276 (~30%). Tough and work-hardening. Requires the same rigorous machining practices: rigid setup, positive-rake carbide tools, slow speeds, and heavy, uninterrupted feeds.
Weldability: Excellent, using matching filler metal (ERNiCrMo-10). Exhibits excellent as-welded corrosion resistance without requiring post-weld heat treatment.

The optimized chemistry further enhances the stability of the weld zone.

• Chemical Processing: Pump shafts, valve stems/trim, agitators, and fasteners for mixed acid reactors and severe alkylation processes.
• Pollution Control (FGD): Fan shafts, agitator arms, and internals for the most severe scrubber environments.
• Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemical: Critical reactor internals, shafts, and components for aggressive multi-step synthesis.
• Waste Treatment: Components for advanced oxidation processes and severe waste incineration.
• Marine: Shafts and fasteners for seawater systems in highly polluted or high-temperature conditions.
