Product Introduction

316Ti Stainless Steel Pipe is a titanium-stabilized version of 316 stainless steel, specifically engineered for applications involving continuous high-temperature exposure or extensive welding where standard 316 grades may suffer from sensitization. By adding titanium (typically 5 times the carbon content), this grade maintains its corrosion resistance in the sensitization temperature range (425-900°C) where chromium carbides would normally form at grain boundaries. This makes 316Ti the optimal choice for piping systems operating at elevated temperatures, particularly in chemical processing, power generation, and heat exchanger applications where both high-temperature stability and corrosion resistance are essential.

Available in seamless and welded configurations, 316Ti stainless steel pipe combines the molybdenum-enhanced corrosion resistance of 316 grade with superior high-temperature stability. Unlike low-carbon grades (316L) that rely on reduced carbon content, 316Ti uses titanium to chemically "tie up" carbon atoms, forming stable titanium carbides instead of chromium carbides. This stabilization approach allows for higher strength retention at elevated temperatures while providing guaranteed protection against sensitization, making it particularly valuable for heat exchangers, furnace piping, and process systems operating continuously above 400°C.
